Golf Pitch Shot

The golf pitch shot is a shot that spends more time in the air than it does on the ground. Your club is going to go above your hands on the backswing and back above your hands on the forward swing.
The keys to hitting a solid golf pitch shot:
The first thing you want to do is swing the club back on the correct plane. For this drill, lay a club on the ground slightly inside the ball and back beyond your stance.
When you bring the club back you want the bottom of your shaft to point to the club on the ground. If the bottom of your club is pointing outside the club on the ground it would be too flat. If it is pointing inside it would be too vertical.
Once you get the club on plane what you want to feel is your weight shift to your left foot on the downswing. You also want to feel your hands drop so that your hands are leading the golf club down into and ahead of the ball.
Most amateurs make the mistake of staying on their back foot trying to lift the ball. This will produce a fat shot.
You must get the bottom of your swing ahead of that golf ball to hit a solid shot.
If you do everything correctly, you should have good balance at the end of your shot. You'll see your weight on your left foot and your right foot should be slightly off of the ground.
